From Gabe at Ace

n. There is so much liberal idiocy in that one quoted paragraph it would take all day to unpack it (so I won’t inflict the rest of his screed on you, dear reader). Here are just the highlights: First, the U.S. is already “engaged in open war in Libya.” The shooting has commenced and the U.S. and its partners are in violation of Libya’s sovereignty, such as it is. Second, the shot at the military’s character reveals he’s not just anti-war, he’s anti-U.S. military, though that’s not so much of a surprise coming from a leftist. Far from it. Third, apparently in this bozo’s mind Obama isn’t even responsible for his own actions; he’s just there to ride herd on the troika*. Bonus point: it’s “rein” not “reign”, dingus. Also, while I’m thinking about it, who the fuck is “we”?

After a long day mostly away from the computer yesterday, I got a chance to read Sarah Palin?s speech in India, a success that some in the American media seemed oddly unable to capture in their reporting. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to watch it live, but Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit has a nice liveblog of his thoughts during the speech, and Palin?s Q&A that followed, that?s worth checking out for some of the high points. Before perusing Jim or the media coverage in detail, I read the speech myself first to get my own reaction to it. The entire speech was transcribed by India Today, perhaps a little too enthusiastically, as practically every other sentence gets an exclamation point towards the end. The common theme from my perspective was energy, and not just on energy policy, although Palin had plenty to say about that….

A new low in the new tone

Pessimists, he points out, have been predicting America?s decline ?since the 18th century.? But whenever things are looking bad, America ?suddenly produces these wonderful things?like the tea party movement. That?s cheered me up no end. Because it?s done more for women in politics than anything else?all the feminists? Nuts! It?s brought a lot of very clever and quite young women into mainstream politics and got them elected. A very good little movement, that. I like it.? Then he deepens his voice for effect and adds: ?And I like that lady?Sarah Palin. She?s great. I like the cut of her jib.?

Chicks We Dig: Regis Giles.  Regis is a 2nd Amendment activist, columnist for the NRA, proprietor of GirlsJustWannaHaveGuns.com, and sister to Hannah Giles (another Chick We Dig.)  Doug Giles has raised two incredibly righteous and rowdy girls.  After all, he did write the book on the subject: Raising Righteous and Rowdy Girls

She’s studying at a college in Florida, and like any typical American teenager she loves shopping and hanging out with her friends. But at weekends she is one of the deadliest shots in the brush.

Regis Giles, 19, is one of America’s hottest hunters – and she’s taking the big game world by storm.

She’s killed buffalo, wild boar, deer and a bear in her hunting career, which began when she was aged just nine.

And she’s already drawing parallels to Sarah Palin, America’s most famous gun-toting wilderness-loving woman.

Alaska’s most famous former governor’s much publicized love of hunting has led to an unexpected rise in female membership in the National Rifle Association – which some are calling the ‘Palin effect.’

Miss Giles is a lifetime member of the NRA. She was hunting well before Mrs Palin took America by storm during the 2008 general election. But she is as staunch a promoter of American blood sport as the former Alaska governor is.

..but don’t worry it was an “optional, non-credit” part of Professor John Bailey’s sexuality class.  Story Image

More than 100 Northwestern University students watched as a naked 25-year-old woman was penetrated by a sex toy wielded by her fiancee during an after-class session of the school’s popular “Human Sexuality” class.

The woman said she showed up at the Feb. 21 lecture in the Ryan Family Auditorium in Evanston expecting just to answer questions, but was game to demonstrate. The course’s professor on Wednesday acknowledged some initial hesitation, but said student feedback was “uniformly positive.”

Faith Kroll, the woman who stripped, was laying down on a towel when she was penetrated. When she arrived, she thought she just would be answering students’ questions and showing off sex toys they brought, including whips, paddles and a clown wig

And Northwestern defended the class and its professor.

“Northwestern University faculty members engage in teaching and research on a wide variety of topics, some of them controversial and at the leading edge of their respective disciplines,” said Alan K. Cubbage, vice president for University Relations. “The University supports the efforts of its faculty to further the advancement of knowledge.”

Bailey said in his statement Wednesday that during the Feb. 21 after-class lecture, “I was not in a mood to surrender to sex negativity and fear.”

“Do I have any regrets?” he wrote on Wednesday. “It is mostly too early to say. I certainly have no regrets concerning Northwestern students, who have demonstrated that they are open-minded grown ups rather than fragile children.”
