Maureen Dowd Dumped Again
It appears that John McCain is staying true to his battle with the New York Times. Last week, a McCain advisor
made news by stating the very, very obvious of the New York Times:
“[The NYT has] cast aside its journalistic integrity and tradition to advocate for the defeat of one candidate, in this case John McCain, and advocate for the election of the other candidate, Barack Obama.”
“But whatever the New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization. It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Gov. Palin and excuses Sen. Obama. There is no public vetting… there is no level of outrage directed at his deceitful ads… This is an organization that is completely and totally 150 percent in the tank for the Democratic candidate…. Everything that is read in the New York Times should be evaluated by the American people from that perspective. It is an organization that has made a decision to cast aside its journalistic integrity and advocate for the defeat of one candidate and the election of another.”
Now its Maureen Dowd who is suffering the consequences. In a move that she claims is nothing short of an assault on the First Amendment [inflated Ego much?] , she has been disinvited from the McCain campaign airplane. The Post-Gazette is reporting that she was dumped in Pittsburgh after a McCain-Palin rally in Washington PA. Yeah, that’s flyover country, folks. No word on how she is surviving outside her insular cocoon. Hopefully, she won’t run into any of those religous zealots that Governor Palin appeals to.
Pity poor Maureen Dowd. This is the second time she has been dumped by an older man for a younger, less bitter, beautiful woman.
