Oprah Balks at Hosting Palin
Update:
OPRAH’S STATEMENT: “The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Drudge Reports:
Oprah Winfrey may have introduced Democrat Barack Obama to the women of America — but the talkshow queen is not rushing to embrace the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket!Oprah’s staff is sharply divided on the merits of booking Sarah Palin, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an insider explains. “Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”
Oprah is obviously one of America’s most influential people and I suspect she relishes her role as a potential kingmaker. As has been shown countless times, traditional “feminists” are not interested in empowering women in general. Just liberal women. This has never been more obvious than it is right now with all the slings and arrows hurled at Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Oprah supports Barry O. Great. But she has positioned herself as a champion of women and now we have an historic event taking place with the first female Republican nominated for VP. Will she have Palin on her show? After 37 million 40 million plus people watched her acceptance speech that would seem to be a no-brainer.

Despite all the talk about identity politics it always boils down to left vs right. She’s not supporting Barry O because of the historic implications, she supports him because he is a liberal. Liberalism is more important that race or gender.
